Overview
This beginner-friendly course provides a solid foundation in precision rifle shooting and is ideal for new shooters, hunters, or those transitioning into long-range disciplines. Designed for participants with basic firearms familiarity, the course emphasizes safe firearm handling, proper rifle and optic setup, and core marksmanship fundamentals to build confidence and accuracy at distance.
Instruction covers essential topics including:
• Rifle and optic setup, zeroing, and equipment familiarization
• Core marksmanship fundamentals including natural point of aim, breathing, trigger control, and body positioning
• Basic external ballistics concepts such as bullet drop and environmental effects
• Introduction to data collection (DOPE), scope adjustments, and simple corrections
• Positional shooting fundamentals and use of common supports such as bipods and bags
Students can expect a mix of classroom instruction and live-fire range time, beginning at 100 yards and progressing to 300–500 yards depending on rifle setup and shooter capability. The course emphasizes consistent groups, disciplined fundamentals, and practical application. No prior precision rifle experience is required. Shooters should bring a scoped rifle capable of reasonable accuracy, appropriate ammunition, and required safety gear. For those without a rifle suitable for extended distances, limited equipment is available for use for a small fee.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will have established a reliable zero, gained a clear understanding of their rifle’s capabilities, and developed the foundational skills needed to continue progressing into longer ranges, competition, or field hunting scenarios. Safety is emphasized throughout all phases of instruction.
